High-speed Internet allows you to easily communicate online.

High-speed Internet connections -- such as Comcast's cable Internet service -- allow users to enjoy fast download speeds and the ability to quickly navigate the Web. They can also be used to expand users' communication options, as they provide for smooth VoIP use and lag-free online gaming. Connecting to Comcast's service is relatively easy.

Instructions

    • 1

Set up high-speed Internet service and rent a cable modem with Comcast.

    • 2

Connect your cable modem to the cable line located in your wall outlet using the included coaxial cable. Plug the power cord into the wall outlet.

    • 3

Turn off your computer and unplug any peripheral devices -- such as printers, monitors and keyboards -- from the computer.

    • 4

Plug one of the ends of the provided Ethernet cable into your computer's Ethernet port and connect the other end to the Ethernet jack on the Comcast cable modem. Connect your peripherals to your computer.

    • 5

Run the installation software provided to you when you purchased the Comcast service. The installation wizard should take about fifteen minutes to complete and will allow your computer to access high-speed internet.

    • 6

Restart your computer to activate the changes to your network.
