CDs offer a convenient and cheap method of MP3 transportation.

Although portable MP3 players are reducing the necessity of CDs, some automobile MP3 players and DVD players only play MP3s from CDs. Therefore, to access your MP3 collection on those players, you need to burn your MP3s to a CD. Windows 7 integrates a CD burner directly into Windows Explorer. By default, the option to burn your CD is presented whenever you insert a blank CD.

Instructions

    • 1

Insert a blank, writable CD into an optical R/RW drive.

    • 2

Click "Burn files to disc using Windows Explorer" in the "Autoplay" dialog box that appears on the screen. Alternatively, click the "Start" icon, "Computer" and then click the drive letter associated with your optical drive located beneath "Drives with Removable Storage."

    • 3

Enter a name for your CD next to "Disc title" in the "Burn a Disc" dialog box.

    • 4

Select "With a CD/DVD player" and click "Next."

    • 5

Locate your MP3s in Window Explorer by navigating through the folders. Drag and drop the MP3 files onto the left-hand CD/DVD drive letter to mark the MP3s for burning.

    • 6

Click "Burn to disk" in the upper part of the menu to burn the MP3s onto the CD. The tray of your CD/DVD player will open when burning is complete.
