Concord Window Films Installation

Concord Solar Control Window Films offers residential customers a large line of window film products including fade reduction, solar heat blocking, glare control, security, privacy and one-way films, static cling, winter heat retention, decorative and hurricane protection films. These installation instructions apply to all films except for the static cling films because static cling films do not utilize an adhesive to keep the film attached to the glass. Installing window film yourself can possibly save you a large amount of money---money you would otherwise pay an installer.

Instructions

    • 1

Add about 1 tsp. of baby shampoo to a 1-quart spray bottle; add water and mix the solution.

    • 2

Measure the length and width of the glass window with a tape measure. Unroll a length of film from the box that is 6 inches longer than the length of the window. The width of the window film is 30 inches. Trim the film to the correct width with a razor knife.

    • 3

Spray the glass with the water/shampoo solution and use a squeegee to remove the solution. Wipe the squeegee off between swipes with a paper towel. Use a paper towel to clean the edges of the window, which must be cleaned well.

    • 4

Apply one piece of clear tape to each side of the film to remove the liner and expose the film adhesive. Spray the shampoo/water solution over the entire piece of film so there are no dry spots.

    • 5

Hold the film up by the corners so the adhesive side faces the window. Apply the film to the window. Slide the film into position on the glass. Squeegee the film to remove the excess water between the film and the glass. Keep the squeegee blade clean as you go.

    • 6

Trim excess window film with a sharp razor knife and discard the excess in the trash. Squeegee the remaining water from between the glass and the film wiping the water away from the edges of the glass with a paper towel.
