How to Pick a Title for Newsletter
Newsletters provide a way of getting information out both quickly and cheaply. Traditionally smaller than a magazine, newsletters are still a popular throughout local communities and charities. The title of any newsletter has to reflect its content, but it should be unique enough to attract people's interest. Deciding on a title for a newsletter also requires focusing on your target audience, particularly the average age of the potential reader.

1
Decide on a title that sums up what your newsletter is about. Brevity is normally recommended. But if it is a comedy-related newsletter, then a title of a long and eccentric nature would actually seem more attractive. A newsletter's title is the first thing people will likely remember, so an ineffective title will lessen the publication's appeal.

2
Pick a title for your newsletter that will draw people in. When running a community newsletter, don't just call it "Community Newsletter." Include the area the newsletter covers in the title, and if it is specifically about sports, then include that too. For example, "Lincoln Community Sports Newsletter."

Study the proposed content of your newsletter, and to which age range the publication will most likely appeal. If the newsletter is aimed at a young audience, then a humorous title should be considered. If a newsletter has an older readership, then the title, humorous or otherwise, should be more conservative.

Go through the proposed content of the newsletter, which in itself, should give you ideas regarding a title. If a newsletter has one specific subject, then one part of the title will be easy to devise. If a newsletter is going to contain a variety of subjects, the title should then be influenced by the age group at which it is aimed, or the area in which the newsletter is circulated.

5
Write out several title variations before settling on the one you wish to use for your newsletter. Remember to write down one or two words which have to be in the title and work around them. The word "Newsletter" should be included in the title.

Tips & Warnings
Look at other newsletters and see what title makes an immediate impression. This could involve just one instance of a clever use of an adjective.
Don't think a title isn't important. If the content of a newsletter is informative and brilliantly written, then a dull title can cancel out all that good work.
