How to Adjust the Size of the Recycle Bin

When you delete something on your computer, the file or folder goes to the Windows Recycle Bin. The Recycle Bin holds the deleted items until you manually empty its contents. While Windows reserves a default amount of disk space on each hard drive for deleted files, you may want increase the maximum size to keep more deleted files or decrease the size to reclaim disk space.

      Right-click the Recycle Bin icon on the Windows Desktop and select "Properties."

      Select the hard drive letter on the list under "Recycle Bin Location" whose Recycle Bin size you want to change. Type the desired size in megabytes next to "Custom Size."

      Click "Apply" and "OK" to apply the changes.
