1
Wash and dry your hair thoroughly. Your hair needs to be clean so your GHD iron produces smooth, shiny curls. Greasy or dirty hair is also heavier, which makes it more likely to lose the curl quickly.
-
2
Spray a heat protectant throughout your hair to protect you hair from damage due to the high heat of the flat iron. Brush through your hair to evenly distribute the spray and create a smooth surface for the curls.

3
Create a small section of hair by placing your thumbs by your ears and sweeping them backward. Let a small amount of hair fall down and clip the remaining hair on top of your head.
-
4
Hold the GHD syling tool in one hand so that your thumb is placed on the top. Take a 1-inch section of hair with the other hand and place the styling apparatus near the roots.
-
5
Rotate the styling tool 180 degrees as you glide it down the length of hair.
-
6
Repeat this process for all of the side and back layers of the hair.
-
7
Style the top layer by parting your hair down the center. Hold the styling tool so that your thumb is facing away from your body. This method turns the curls outward, giving a fuller shape to your hair and opening up the space around your face.
-
8
Rotate the styling tool 180 degrees as you glide it down the length of each section of hair until you have curled the front section.
-
9
Shake curls gently to give hair a natural look. Add hairspray and additional styling products as you wish to hold the finished look.
