How to Configure Static IP for 2Wire
2Wire gateway routers function as both a modem and a router. 2Wire gateways assign local IP addresses to computers on the local network using the dynamic host configuration protocol. Computers ask the 2Wire gateway for an IP address using DHCP when they connect, and the 2Wire assigns each a dynamic IP address out of the pool of available IP addresses. This IP address can change, which can cause problems if you're forwarding ports to a specific device's IP address. 2Wire devices reserve a specific range of IP addresses for static IP addresses, which you can assign manually on each computer.
