How to Use Baby Slings W/Twins

Having twins means you get double the baby fun, but it also means you have to figure out how to take both of those babies out and about with you. If strollers are too cumbersome or you just want to hold your twins simultaneously around the house, you can make use of a baby sling to accommodate your two bundles or joy. A baby sling is a large fabric wrap that you tie to hold both of your babies near to your heart and close to each other to keep everyone happy and together.

Instructions

    • 1

Fold the wrap in half lengthwise so you have a long, narrow band of fabric. Hold the label in the middle of the wrap against your stomach, with the label facing out. The folded edge of the wrap should be downward and the open side should be upward.

    • 2

Pass the right length of the sling behind you and over your left shoulder so the fabric drapes onto your front. Do the opposite with the left length of the sling so you form an "X" on your back with the lengths of the wrap.

    • 3

Slip the fabric from your left shoulder down and across to the right of your body. Pass the fabric underneath the horizontal section of the sling that is across your stomach. Spread the fabric out so it lies flat underneath the upper layer of the sling.

    • 4

Pass the fabric from your right should down across to the left side of your body and slide it in between the horizontal and diagonal pieces of sling over your stomach. Arrange all of the sections so everything is smooth and flat against your body.

    • 5

Bring the loose ends of the sling around your waist and tie them tightly behind your back. Pull the wrap slightly to ensure that you have a snug fit. Retie the straps behind your back if anything feels loose.

    • 6

Locate the open edges of the section of wrap that is over your right shoulder. You can slide your hand in between the open edges because the band has formed a pocket with the folded edge being the back of the pocket.

    • 7

Ease your first twin into the right pocket with his feet down and his face toward you. His back should be cradled by the folded edge of the band. Adjust your baby on the right until he feels comfortably supported against you with his knees higher than his bottom and his chin off his chest.

    • 8

Slip your second twin into the left pocket in the same way you did for the first. Make sure he is also comfortable and doesn't have his chin pushed down into his chest. If the twins are positioned properly their heads' will be supported in a slightly raised way. Their feet should be intertwined by your stomach.

Tips & Warnings

  • Practice wrapping your sling and carrying dolls before attempting to carry your children to get the hang of the procedure without upsetting the babies in the process.

  • Never cover your baby's mouth when he is in the sling or you could interrupt his breathing.
