Do It Yourself Can Koozies
Koozies are tubular constructions, usually made of foam, that you can slip your canned beverage into. Koozies not only protect your hands from the coldness of the can but also to help insulate the can, keeping your beverage colder longer. You can buy koozies at student book stores, home good stores and even from craft stores, especially during the summer months, but you can also make your own from a sheet of craft foam.

Instructions

1
Draw a circle with a 2 5/8-inch diameter in the center of the paper.
-
2
Draw two rectangles, one along the bottom and one along the top of the circle that are 4 inches tall and 5 1/8 inches wide. Draw the rectangles so that one of the 5 1/8-inch edges of each rectangle overlaps the circle by 1/16 of an inch. Cut out this pattern from the paper, keeping the circle and two rectangles all connected as one piece.
-
-
3
Trace the paper pattern onto the sheet of craft foam using a pencil. Cut the piece out from the foam.
-
4
Fold the rectangular sides of the koozie up and curl them in around the circular bottom. The edges of the rectangles will overlap on either side of the koozie by 1/2 inch.
-
5
Secure the 1/2-inch overlap of the sides with a line of low-temperature hot glue. Pinch the overlapping sides together as the hot glue cools for a minute.
