How to Reset a Tight VNC Password Remotely

TightVNC is software used to remotely administer computers on a local network. The software has a local utility that lets you control the settings, including the software's password. The TightVNC password is the value required before a user can log in to the computer remotely. After you log in from your remote computer, you may change the password for the utility.

Instructions

1. Log in to the remote computer from your local computer's TightVNC application. When the software opens, click the "Maximize" window icon to expand it to span your entire monitor. This makes it easier to view the desktop.

2. Click the TightVNC icon in the remote computer's system tray. Click the "Properties" pop-up menu item to open the utility's properties window.

3. Click the "Administration" tab. Click the "Change" button to open a window in which you reset the password. Type the new password in the "Password" text box and type it again in the "Verification" text box. Click "OK" to save the changes.
