The Best Way to Transport Live Chickens Long Distance
The transportation of chickens over long distances is a common, agricultural necessity for many companies in the modern day. Chickens are typically transported via truck, which takes longer than flight but which doesn't subject the chickens to pressure differences and the added stresses of flying. Even with trucks, though, there are certain transportation considerations you need to take when hauling chickens to make sure the cargo is as comfortable as possible between leaving and arriving.

Check the specifications of the truck. Over the road is the most common way for live chickens to be transported, and the truck must be large enough to accommodate the chicken cages and to allow for air flow. Make sure the cages have adequate tie downs.

Check the cages' specifications. Live chickens should be transported in small groups (three to five) inside cages that are large enough for them to move, but small enough to fit a full cargo of chickens in a truck. Plastic cages with proper air flow work best for long-distance hauling, and they should come equipped with food and water storage for the chickens.

Pack the chickens in their cages, and place them in the truck adequately so there is enough space for you to walk through the storage and see all the chickens. Tie down the cages firmly. Make sure that all the chickens have food and water.
