Do it Yourself Spray in Bedliner
Over time, the liner of a truck bed can appear worn and damaged due to excessive and everyday use. Truck owners can cover these scratches and worn spots with a spray-on bedliner available from many reputable distributors. Spray-on bedliners are simple to apply as long as the installer uses proper preparation methods and recommended techniques supplied by the product's instructions. By spraying the bedliner on yourself, you can save money otherwise spent to pay a professional to do the same job.

1
Read the truck's owner manual for complete instructions on removing the tailgate. Attach an 80-grit sanding pad to a sanding block. Sand the entire surface of the truck bedliner and tailgate to remove the shine and add the necessary texture required for proper spray-on adhesion. Thoroughly sand the corners and grooves of the bedliner for an even liner coat.
-
2
Remove the 80-grit sanding pad and replace it with a 120-grit sanding pad. Sand the truck bedliner and tailgate as you did with the 80-grit pad, covering all surfaces of the truck bed where you wish the spray-on liner to adhere.

3
Turn the garden hose on and spray the bedliner and tailgate with water to remove the debris left behind from sanding. Cover all areas you wish to protect from the spray-on liner with masking tape.
-
4
Wear rubber gloves and dampen a cloth with acetone. Wipe the surface of the truck bedliner with the acetone-dampened cloth to aid in removing unseen dirt and loose paint.
-
5
Open the can of liner paint and mix the contents, using a metal paint mixer until you thoroughly blend it. Pour the liner paint into a paint sprayer.
-
6
Apply paint liner to the corners and seams of the truck bed and tailgate with a small paintbrush. Spray the liner paint onto the truck bedliner and tailgate with a paint sprayer, starting toward the cab of the truck and working your way toward the tailgate section.
-
7
Remove excess or uneven sections of liner paint with a cloth dampened with acetone. Apply a second coat of bedliner paint to the truck bed according to the included product instructions.
-
8
Peel the masking tape off the truck and reassemble the tailgate according to the owner manual's directions, after the liner paint has set for four to 24 hours.
