DIY: Tissue Holder

DIY: Tissue Holder thumbnail
Everyone needs a tissue sometimes.

A simple yet practical gift to make someone is a tissue holder. A pocket pack of tissues will get dirty or ripped inside a purse, making the tissues inside unusable. A tissue holder is easy to sew by hand or on a machine and can be used as party favors or small gifts. These can be created out of just about any material in just a few minutes. Cover a pack of travel-size tissues with a handmade tissue holder.

Instructions

    • 1

Lay the two pieces of fabric with the right sides facing each other on your work surface.

    • 2

Stitch all the way around the two short sides and one of the long sides, about ¼ inch from the edge of the fabric.

    • 3

Stitch the remaining long side, leaving about 2 inches to turn the project right-side out.

    • 4

Turn the piece right-side out by tucking the fabric through the 2-inch opening. Then, stitch the opening closed.

    • 5

      Iron the fabric.

    • 6

Lay the fabric flat with the long sides top and bottom. Fold the short sides in to the middle and iron to crease. This will be the inside of the holder.

    • 7

Sew both ends, about ¼ inch from the edges, leaving the middle slit open.

    • 8

Tuck the ends just sewn through the middle slit to turn right-side out and hide the seams, then fill with tissues.
