How Do I Remove the Volume Control on the Task Bar of a Computer?

Constant notifications and pop-ups from the Windows task bar can be distracting when you are trying to work, and you may find that your time on the computer is more productive if you create a more minimalistic task bar by eliminating the icons that you do not use. For example, if you have a computer with physical volume buttons, you can eliminate the volume icon and give yourself one less distraction. Remove the volume icon from the Windows 7 task bar by customizing the system icons that Windows displays.

Instructions

1. Right-click the clock in the bottom-right corner of the screen.

2. Select Customize Notification Icons.

3. Click the blue "Turn system icons on or off" link at the bottom of the window.

4. Click the Behaviors drop-down menu next to the Volume icon, and select Off.

5. Click "OK" twice.
