How to Update a Roaming List on a Telus

Telus is a Canadian communications company that provides cell phone service. Like other cell phones, Telus phones contain a portable roaming list, also known as a PRL. The preferred roaming list contains information about which networks a phone should use when it's roaming outside of its local area. An updated roaming list may be necessary for the phone to see some networks. Telus phones ship with built-in PRLs, which can be updated by dialing a specific number in a Telus digital coverage area.

Instructions

    • 1

Verify you're in a Telus digital coverage area by looking at your phone's display. Depending on your phone, a "D" or nothing will appear on your phone's display.

    • 2

Dial "*22803" or "*ACT03" on your Telus phone and press "Send."

    • 3

Press "1" on your phone's keypad at the language selection prompt to select English.

    • 4

Press "2" on your phone's keypad at the prompt to update the roaming list.

    • 5

Listen for the "Your roaming list has been upgraded successfully" message which plays when the update complete. The update should take less than one minute.

Tips & Warnings

  • Contact Telus customer service at (877) 253-2763 or by dialing "*611" on your cell phone if you receive an error message.

  • Over-the-air roaming list updates are unavailable outside of Winnipeg in Manitoba, in Thunder Bay and in Prince Rupert. Visit a Telus dealer for a roaming list update if you're in one of these areas.
