Instructions

  1. Raising and folding the Texas flag

    • 1

The Texas state flag should be hoisted briskly and raised with the blue area against the flagpole and the white stripe at the top. The only exception would be in the situation of a life and death emergency, in which case the flag should be hung upside down.

    • 2

Fold the flag in half lengthwise with the red stripe facing up and then fold the flag again lengthwise, obscuring the red stripe within the fold.

    • 3

Arrange the flag with the white star facing down and the blue star facing up and fold the corner with the white stripe to the bottom side of the flag, forming a triangle.

    • 4

Resume folding the corners over in repeated triangles until the last fold produces a blue triangle with a part of the white star showing. Tuck all of the edges into the folds of the triangle.

Tips & Warnings

  • Lower the Texas state flag in a slow, respectful way.

  • Never let the flag touch the ground.

  • Always allow the flag to wave free.

  • Do not leave the flag up in severe weather.

  • Provide proper lighting if the flag is flown at night.

  • Store or display the Texas flag properly folded and in a way that will keep it from being damaged or soiled.
