How to Check the Texting Balance With AT&T

Going over your allotted text message limit can result in penalties. Each text message you send once you pass your monthly limit with AT&T will cost you 20 cents, as of February 2011. Going over your limit by just 50 messages can result in an additional $10 on your bill. Fortunately, you can request your data usage by giving AT&T a quick call.

Instructions

1. Open the dialer application on your AT&T wireless phone.

2. Dial *3282#. AT&T will send a text message to your phone once you place the call.

3. Open the AT&T text message. Look at the list of data usage numbers to find your text message balance.

Tips & Warnings

• Your data usage information is only an estimate. Text messages you've sent five days prior to requesting the data usage report may not appear in the text you receive.
