How to Disallow Run Policies in Regedit

The Windows Registry Editor is used to view and change settings on your computer. It is intended for advanced users, as the registry contains complex system information that is vital to your computer. An incorrect change to the registry can render your computer unusable. You should always back up the registry before making any changes to it. You can use the Windows Registry to view folders, settings and files for each user. You can also disable functions in the Windows Registry, including the run policy.

Instructions

      Click "Start," type "regedit" in the Open box and click "OK."

      Navigate to the following key on the left side of the window:

      "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\policies\Explorer\NoDriveTypeAutorun."

      Right-click "NoDriveTypeAutoRun" on the right side and click "Modify."

      Type "OxFF" in the Value data box. Click "OK" and then close the Registry Editor by clicking the "X" in the upper right-hand corner.

      Click "Start," the arrow to the right of Shutdown and then click "Restart" to restart your computer.
