How to Display Family Tree Photos on the Wall
Instead of hiding family photos in an album or a box in the attic, create a family tree wall and display them. There are many variations on a family tree photo wall. You could create a mural of a tree on the wall and place framed photographs here and there on the branches. Another option is to purchase antique frames in different sizes and create a collage of photos. Some people choose to use the same frame design and put the oldest generations at the top and trail down into more recent generations, using smaller and smaller frames and photos along the way. 1
Decide if you want a tree mural or just the photo frames on your wall. Some people hire a professional artist to paint a mural or paint it themselves. The tree serves as a base with the photographs sitting on various branches.
-
2
Choose a way to organize the photo frames. Once you decide whether you will have a mural, you'll need to make a decision on how to organize the frames.

3
Choose photos to display. If you're like most people, you likely own more photographs than you could possibly display. Pick your favorites of those family members you'd like to display.
-
4
Have the photographs copied into the sizes you need for your display. For example, you might choose to display 8x10s of your grandparents, 5x7s of their children and wallet size of your generation. You could also create the display in the reverse order with the modern pictures larger than the vintage ones.

Trace each frame onto a sheet of paper and cut to size. Use stencil spray to create a sticky backside and place each paper frame where the real frame will display. Once all frames are arranged to your satisfaction, place a nail or screw (depending upon how heavy your frames are) in each paper frame.

6
Remove the paper and place the picture that goes in that spot on the nail or screw. Repeat with each paper frame until the real frames are in place.
