How to Change a Gas Bill Name thumbnail
Changing your name on your gas bill is simple.

If you got married, divorced or legally changed your name simply because you didn't care for it anymore, you will face the process of changing your name on a number of documents with a number of companies, including your gas company. The process is fairly similar no matter where you live, but the exact details of the name change process on your gas bill depend on where you live and which company handles your gas bill account.

Instructions

    • 1

Call your gas company's office to discuss your name change. Speak to someone in the office about changing your name on your bill and find out what supporting documents -- if any -- you need to provide to the gas company.

    • 2

Visit the offices of your gas company with your new driver's license or other proof of name change. Ask an employee in the offices to change your name on your account. Depending on your company, you may or may not be asked to provide proof of your name change. Some companies will simply take your word for it.

    • 3

Fill out the change of information section on the back of your monthly statement and mail it back to your gas company along with your monthly payment. Check your statement the following month to ensure your name was correctly changed on your account.
