Snow globes first came to the United States from Germany in the 1920s. Since then, the fascination with them has gone from awe to kitsch. You can make your own snow globe, however, to show off your personal style. The best part is the entire project can be completed in under 30 minutes. Whether you want these for yourself or for gifts, they will make a conversation piece wherever they are displayed.

Things You'll Need

  • Small jar and lid
  • 100 grit sandpaper
  • Ceramic or plastic figurines
  • Clear-drying, waterproof epoxy
  • Distilled water
  • Glitter or fake snow
  • Glycerin

Instructions

    • 1

      Sand the inside of the jar's lid using sandpaper so that the epoxy will stick to it.

      Glue the figurine to the lid using the epoxy. Allow to dry according to the instructions on the tube of glue.

      Pour distilled water into the jar. Fill the jar approximately a half inch from the top.

      Place a pinch of glitter or fake snow into the water. Pour a few drops of glycerin into the water.

    • 5

      Screw the lid onto the jar. Flip the jar over and shake.
