Choose a clay mask formulated for your skin condition. Use a green clay mask if you have acne-prone skin. Apply a red clay mask if you have sensitive or dry skin. Test the clay mask on your arm to see if any irritation occurs. Apply a small amount of clay on the inside of your forearm and allow it to dry according to package instructions. If no irritation occurs, you can proceed with your facial. Do not use the clay on your face if the test area skin is irritated.

3
Prepare yourself for the clay facial to come. Wear a top that exposes your neck. Pull your hair back with a hair tie or head band. Cleanse your face with warm water to open your pores. Pat your face dry with a towel.

4
Use a brush, spatula or clean fingers to apply a layer of the clay mask to your face and neck area. Use short, small strokes and avoid the delicate area around your eyes and your mouth.
-
5
Relax for 15 to 20 minutes while the mask works on your skin and dries. Stick to the drying time mentioned on your mask's package instructions since drying times can vary depending on the product's ingredients. Avoid keeping the clay mask on for a longer time, as this may harm your skin.

6
Wet the hardened clay mask with lukewarm water and use a wet washcloth to gently wipe the clay off your face and neck.
-
7
Splash cold water on your face to close your facial pores and make it hard for dirt to enter. Dry your face and apply moisturizer.
