How to Convert a Car to HHO

How to Convert a Car to HHO thumbnail
Save on the cost of gas by using HHO as a supplement to gas.

HHO, also known as oxyhydrogen, is used by many vehicle owners as an alternative to gasoline. HHO systems are more cost-effective, as well as more environmentally friendly, than running a vehicle on gasoline only because the system uses electricity to release hydrogen gas from purified water. In essence, less fuel is needed to power the vehicle. These hydrogen gases are fed into the engine intake system through a rubber hose. You can convert your vehicle to run on fuel as well as HHO with the use of a booster or conversion kit and begin using less gasoline.

Things You'll Need

  • Wrench
  • Sockets
  • Screwdrivers
  • Wire strippers
  • HHO booster kit
  • Purified water

Instructions

    • 1

Park the vehicle on a flat surface and turn off the engine.

    • 2

Mount the HHO booster with the included hardware according to the instructions on the booster kit. Each booster kit will have a different set of instructions depending on the type of kit. Install the booster close to the engine's air intake and be sure to keep the booster away from heat sources.

    • 3

Attach the black wire from the booster to the black terminal on the vehicle's battery and the red wire to a secure power source that is only active when the vehicle is on. These "switched" power sources include fuel pump relays and alternator outputs.

    • 4

Attach the booster rubber outlet tube to a vacuum port on the engine. Ensure that the vacuum port is unused. Follow the instructions on the booster kit and the vehicle's owner manual to determine which ports are unused.

    • 5

Connect the booster output with the HHO booster tube to complete the installation of the booster kit.

    • 6

Add enough purified water to the booster cell so the cell is filled until water reaches approximately 1 inch from the top of the cell.

    • 7

Start the vehicle's engine and test the application. Inspect the HHO cell for bubble production. A functional HHO will have some slight bubble production when the vehicle is on.

Tips & Warnings

  • Perform research on HHO booster kits to determine which is best for your vehicle. Obtain a HHO booster kit that matches the make and model of your vehicle.

  • Some car owners choose to add electrolytes to their HHO. HHO cells can be more functional when an electrolyte such as lye is added to the purified water. Generally, the water-to-electrolyte ratio is 1 gal. of water to 3 tbsps. of powdered lye.
