How to Fix a 623 Error Notice
If you receive the pop-up message "Error 623" when you are trying to connect to the virtual private network, or VPN, connection on your computer, you can fix the issue. The error is specifically caused due to the system not finding a phone book entry for completing the connection. The Network Connections feature allows you to work around the error by connecting to the VPN connection using a local dial-up connection.

Click the "Start" button from the desktop, then click the "Control Panel" option.

Click the "Network and Internet Connections" option, then click the "Network Connections" option.

Right-click your VPN connection, then select the "Properties" option. The Properties dialog box appears.

Click the box next to the "Dial another connection first" field so that it's selected. Select the appropriate dial-up connection for your computer.
