How to Repaint a Transavia 737

With the right decals, it is possible to paint a 737 in Transavia colors.

The Boeing 737 is an extremely popular twin-engine commercial airliner. More 737s have been built than any other type of commercial airliner; 737s have been in production since the 1960's and are still in production as of 2011. Transavia is a Dutch low-cost airline based in Amsterdam that operates the Boeing 737. By purchasing the right supplies, it is possible to build and paint a Transavia B-737 plastic model for display.

• Boeing 737-800 kit
• Transavia 737 decals
• Modeling supplies

Instructions

1. Purchase a 737 plastic model. Model kit of the Boeing 737-800 come in 1:144 scale, which will create a model approximately ten inches in length. A Boeing 737 model kit can be found in larger hobby stores or at many hobby websites online. The 737 you purchase will most likely come with decals (similar to stickers that add details to the model) for another air carrier. Custom decals must be ordered separately. There are companies that sell custom airline decals for hobbyists, and several decal sets for several different Transavia liveries are available online. See Resources for decal retail companies.

2. Build the Boeing 737 model kit. Detailed instructions will be provided by the kit manufacturer, including painting and detailing instructions. Additional modeling info and tips, including active modeling communities, can be found online and are a good resource for new modelers.

3. Paint the body and tail white. This is the background color for the Transavia livery. For an even, uniform coat, consider using white spray paint designed for hobbyists. While the instructions will provide painting instructions for the entire airplane, disregard those instructions only for the main body (fuselage) and tail, which should remain white. All other portions of the plane should be painted according to the instructions.

4. Apply the custom Transavia decals that were purchased separately. The custom decals will provide the details specific to the Transavia livery. Numerous pictures can be seen online of Transavia 737s which can serve as a reference for the model.
