Installing a horn onto a custom steering wheel is a relatively easy process as long as you have an understanding of how your custom steering wheel is set up. Installing the horn is a job that can be completed in about 20 to 30 minutes. You can pick up all the tools you need to carry out the task from your local auto store.

      Lift up the hood of your vehicle and use a socket wrench to remove the bolt attached to the negative battery terminal clamp. Lift the negative cable away from the terminal.

      Enter your vehicle. Press in the tabs behind the steering wheel and move the wheel to its lowest possible position within the steering column. This will make it easier to work on the wheel.

      Use a flathead screwdriver to carefully pry the steering wheel cover away from the connectors around the edge of the steering wheel. Lift the cover off the wheel.

      Place the horn into the center of the steering wheel. Grab the horn wiring and place it securely into the connector in the center of the wheel. Place the steering wheel cover back over the wheel and secure it in place by reattaching the cover connectors.

      Place the negative cable back on the battery terminal and secure it in place by reattaching the clamp bolt. Enter your vehicle and test the horn to ensure that it is working correctly.
