How to Boost the Range on a Linksys Wireless Router

One of the advantages of wireless Internet is you can go online in any room of a house or office. If only it were that easy: The wireless signal from an Internet router can fluctuate depending on how far a user is from the router. Owners of a Linksys wireless router can remedy the problem by creating a reliable device to boost the router's range using just a few household items.

      Find a parabola template online. Print it out.

      Cut out a piece of cardboard a foot long and six to eight inches wide. Place a piece of aluminum foil over the cardboard and cut the foil to fit. Glue the sheet of aluminum to the cardboard panel.

      Cut two sets of three horizontal slots in the cardboard panel. Cut one set of slots about a third of the way down from the top of the panel. Cut the other set about a third of the way up from the bottom of the panel.

      Insert the tabs on either side of the cutout parabola template into the two rows of slots.

      Tape the parabola booster to the antenna of your Linksys wireless router. The completed booster will improve the wireless router's range and can be directed to point at the computer using the Internet, improving performance.
