Find out what your stuff is worth.

Since its creation in 1995, eBay has become one of the world's premier Internet auction sites. Millions of people use it every day, some making a full-time living through running auctions. Before posting an auction, it can be very useful to find out how much items like yours are selling for. You may find it is not even worth the cost of listing your item if it is not popular.

Instructions

    • 1

Visit eBay and enter the item you want to check in the search field.

    • 2

Click "Completed Listings" in the "Show Only" menu on the left side of the search results screen.

    • 3

Click the "Auctions" or "Buy it Now" tabs on the search results to view those specific categories, or leave the results on the default "All Items" option.

    • 4

Add up the individual prices similar items have sold for, then divide them by the number to obtain the average price. For example, if three identical items have sold for $45.50, $39.00 and $40.25, the average price is $41.58.

Repeat this process with several different wordings if your object cannot be specifically defined. A particular camera can be determined with a single search, but homemade jewelry may need several search variations to get a full perspective.
