How to Move My IE Web Browser Page Around on a Desktop

Windows' default web browser, Internet Explorer, puts a wealth of information at your fingertips via the World Wide Web. When browsing the Internet, It is often useful to reposition your Internet Explorer window on your desktop, so you can see other programs simultaneously. This allows you to reference a Web page while working in another program, such as a word processor. Although every version of Windows allows you to move Internet Explorer, Windows 7 offers an additional method for increased convenience.

      Hold the "Windows" key down on your keyboard and press the left or right arrow keys. This positions the Internet Explorer window to fill half the screen on either the left or right, respectively. Pressing the up arrow key maximizes the window, and pressing the down arrow key allows you to reposition or resize the window.

      Hover your mouse cursor over any corner of the Internet Explorer window until your cursor changes into a diagonal line with pointers on either end. Click and drag your mouse cursor in any direction to resize the window.

      Click and drag the title bar at the top of the Internet Explorer window to move it around the desktop. Release the mouse button when the Internet Explorer window is at the desired location.
