How do I Get an Instant Message?
When you email someone, you don't receive a response until the person you're trying to contact has checked his email and composed a reply to you. Instant messages, on the other hand, are real-time messages you send to others using specific software. Instant messages tend to be shorter and more conversational than email messages. Download instant messaging software onto your computer -- and sign up for an account with the service of your choice -- prior to receiving your first instant message.
