Troubleshooting a Home 1Touch Heater

The Holmes 1Touch is a portable heating unit meant for residential use that includes a digital control panel, radiant heat, carry handle, power lights, a fan to dispense heat more evenly, two different heat settings, manual reset, automatic shut-off and tip-over protection. Holmes heaters can be purchased in many department and home retail stores, as well as online, and should function normally with basic maintenance and care. Minor problems with the heater may be fixed by the homeowner through some troubleshooting steps.

  • Connect the Holmes heater to a power outlet if the heater is not turning on or working. Replace or reset the fuse or circuit breaker as needed.

  • Turn the heater power switch to "On" and select "Lo" or "High" with the mode control if there is power but the unit is not dispensing heat.

  • Clear the space around the heater if the heater is overheating or smelling bad, as obstructions to the air flow may cause damage, reduce efficiency or even present a fire hazard.

  • Turn off and unplug the heater if the heater unexpectedly shuts off during use. Wait 10 minutes to allow the heater to cool sufficiently. Plug the heater in and turn the power back on.

  • Press and hold "Mode/Off" for two seconds if the unit will not shut off.
