How to Cancel an iTunes Credit Card

How to Cancel an iTunes Credit Card thumbnail
iTunes customers can make purchases on devices like the iPad.

If you have ever purchased software or media from the iTunes Store and did not use a gift card, you supplied your credit card information to Apple. This information is saved as a permanent part of your iTunes account, and iTunes uses the same card for future purchases automatically. If you are a former iTunes customer and no longer purchase from the iTunes Store, you may consider this information a possible security risk. Access your iTunes account information to remove a credit card from your file and prevent it from being used for future purchases.

Instructions

    • 1

Run iTunes from the Start Menu or desktop shortcut on a PC, or from the dock or Applications folder on a Mac.

    • 2

Click "Store," and then click "Sign In." Type the email address and password for your iTunes account. If the "Store" menu displays the option "Sign Out," you have iTunes configured to sign into your account automatically; skip this step.

    • 3

Open the "Store" menu again, and then click "View My Account." This displays the "Account Information" screen. If you have a credit card on file, iTunes displays it next to "Payment Information."

    • 4

      Click "Edit Payment Information."

    • 5

Click the "None" radio button next to "Credit Card" at the top of the window.

    • 6

Click "Done." The "Payment Information" section of the "Account Information" window now displays "No credit card on file."
