A boot CD allows you to run programs outside of Windows.

By default, your Dell Dimension 4600 boots from its hard drive rather than a CD. If you wish to boot from a CD, you need to instruct the computer to do so. This is required for any bootable CD, including a Windows installation CD, Dell recovery disc and some anti-virus recovery discs. Dell makes this chore easier by allowing a simple key stroke to access a boot menu when you restart your computer.

Instructions

    • 1

Insert the bootable CD into your CD/DVD drive.

    • 2

Restart your Dell Dimension 4600 computer.

    • 3

      Press "F12" when you see "F2 = Setup, F12 = Boot Menu."

    • 4

Enter the number that corresponds to your CD/DVD drive from the list of available boot devices. Your Dell Dimension 4600 will then boot from the CD.
