How to Clean a Sony LCD Computer Monitor Screen

Proper cleaning of your Sony LCD will extend its life.

Although it is inadvisable to touch your Sony liquid crystal display (LCD), you will periodically need to clean it to remove accumulated dust. Furthermore, if your LCD screen comes into contact with a volatile chemical or solvent, it should be immediately cleaned to avoid deterioration of the screen coating. Following Sony's recommendations for cleaning your LCD screen will avoid damage and increase the useful life of your monitor.

Things You'll Need

• Soft cloth
• Glass cleaner, non-anti-static
• Mild detergent solution

Instructions

1. Wipe the screen gently in a single direction using a soft, dry cloth.

2. Spray glass cleaner on the cloth and wipe again in a single direction. Avoid using a glass cleaner that advertises itself as "anti-static," as the additives can scratch the LCD screen.

3. Wipe the screen one last time with a soft, dry cloth to remove any excess moisture.

4. Moisten a soft cloth with a mild detergent solution, and wipe the housing, panel and controls of the monitor to clean them.

5. Wipe the housing, panel and controls again with a soft, dry cloth to remove any excess moisture.
