Adding a leveling kit to your Dodge Ram will increase its off-road capability. You will be able to add larger tires once you've installed the kit, which consists of a spacer that is installed on top of the coil spring. Suspension manufacturers offer leveling kits in different sizes, depending on your application. It is important that you save all the stock hardware in case you want to take the kit off for a stock look.

Step 1

Loosen the lug nuts on the two front tires using a lug-nut wrench. Slide a hydraulic jack under the axle and lift the front of your vehicle. Remove the tires.

Step 2

Place jack stands on each side to support the frame. This will allow you to lower the axle to install the leveling kit.

Step 3

Remove the swaybar endlinks using a ratchet and socket. The swaybar is the rod that runs parallel to the axle in the front of your Dodge Ram. The links can be removed from the brackets on the axle.

Step 4

Open the hood. Locate the two shock towers located on the front fenders inside the engine compartment. Loosen and remove the three bolts that secure the shock tower in place using a ratchet and socket. Remove both shock towers.

Step 5

Lower the axle to the ground with the hydraulic jack. Drop it enough to remove both coil springs from the Dodge Ram.

Step 6

Slide a leveling spacer on top of each coil spring mount. Reinstall the coil spring in the same place on each side of the vehicle.

Step 7

Lift the axle using the hydraulic jack. Confirm that the coil springs are seated in the correct location.

Step 8

Reinstall the shock towers inside the engine compartment using a ratchet and socket.

Step 9

Reattach the stock swaybar onto the link and the axle using a ratchet and socket.

Step 10

Place the tires back on the vehicle. Attach the lug nuts and tighten them using a lug-nut wrench.

Step 11

Raise the vehicle off the jack stands. Remove the jack stands. Lower the vehicle to the ground so that the tires are sitting on the ground. Remove the jack.
