When the oven isn't rising to its correct temperature or when it burns carefully prepared meals, it can be frustrating and worrisome. A high-end Dacor oven built into the wall can seem difficult and expensive to fix. However, troubleshooting may be able to solve simple issues, such as when the Dacor oven won't turn on or is stuck in a preheat mode.

Problems With the Baking Element

If the Dacor oven bake element is not working, then it could be that it has burned out. Repair Clinic recommends inspecting the bake element for damage, such as holes or blisters. A multimeter can test the element for continuity.

Before checking the bake element with the multimeter, you need to turn off the power supply. The multimeter will test that the element is working or if it has a faulty connection by emitting a continuous sound. If there is no sound or it isn't continuous, then the Dacor oven bake element will more than likely need to be replaced.

Dacor has offered a one-year warranty and recently bumped that up to a three-year manufacturer warranty on all of its ovens purchased from January 1, 2019, through June 30, 2020. Purchasers must register their ovens before the June 30, 2020 deadline to qualify for the extended warranty.

Dacor Oven Temperature Sensor

Foods that aren't browning properly or edges of dishes getting burned may mean that there is a problem with the Dacor oven temperature sensor. The temperature control thermostat inside of the Dacor oven may need to be calibrated. If the thermostat is not calibrated correctly, then the oven won't cycle on the heat properly.

To calibrate a Dacor oven, place an oven thermometer inside of the appliance. Turn the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Allow it to sit for one hour on any setting. To test the broil and convection broil, set the oven to 555 degrees Fahrenheit. After an hour, check the thermometer. If it is off, then turn the oven off and press the 0 and the # buttons at the same time until the word PASS appears on the display.

Enter the code 6428 and press start. SLCT will appear. Press the cooking mode you want calibrated to change the temperature. For instance, if the oven thermometer read 355, then you would press 5. To decrease the oven temperature to the correct calibration, press the # key after pressing the number. Press Start and then Cancel to exit the calibration mode.

Removing the Dacor Oven Door

If you need to replace an element or want to clean the oven door, then it will be necessary to remove the oven door. Have a second person on hand when removing the oven door because it can be rather heavy and unwieldy.

Open the door wide and unlock the hinges on either side of the door. Close the oven door until it is slightly ajar. Grasp the oven door by the sides and carefully lift it up and off the unlocked hinges.

For stubborn spills within the panes of glass on the oven door, you may need to remove the glass. Pull the door open and clean the sides and gaskets. Remove the screws at the sides of the interior of the oven door to access the glass. Clean the glass and let it dry thoroughly before returning to the cleaned oven door housing.
