How to Connect PHC
The streets of San Francisco are home to approximately 12,000 homeless people. Project Homeless Connect, an organization developed by the former San Francisco mayor Gavin Newsom, assists homeless clients seeking housing, medical and dental support, career support and other provisions they may not have access to. PHC volunteers work in a variety of areas and sign up for special events and projects through the PHC website.

Read through the volunteer position descriptions from the Project Homeless Connect website. Different positions have different responsibilities, qualifications and volunteering times. For example, data entry volunteers log client information into the PHC database and must be quick typists. Employment service volunteers work primarily in the morning and assist clients pursuing work.

Click the "Volunteer Today" button from the PHC website. Click "Sign Up" to create a new volunteer account.

Fill out the registration form. Enter your name, date of birth, address, phone number and login information. Click "Register Now" at the bottom of the page when the form is completed.

Log in to your email account. Locate the activation email from info@projecthomelessconnect.com. Check your spam folder if the email does not appear in your inbox. Click the activation link included in the email, or enter the activation code at the provided website.

Click the red "here" link to enter your account information. Click "My Projects" at the top of the page.

Click the red "here" link under "Special Events" to select an event. Click the title of the event to view its details.

Click "Select a Project." Review the available volunteer positions and times. Times that have enough volunteers are marked with an orange "FULL" next to the time.

Click on the position you want, then click "Sign me Up" for the desired time. Click "Sign me up for additional projects" to select multiple positions or times.
