Research is the first step to locating survey companies. Going online and pulling up companies that seem worthwhile is the way to find companies that you may be interested in. Choose at least five companies that seem legitimate, read all of the reviews, and see what others have to say about these sites and then use your best judgment to weed out the free surveys you want to try. Write down all of these companies and then go into each individual site and look at how the site is set up, how easy the site is to navigate and whether they are pop up ads all over the place. Place a check next to the ones that seem promising.

Analyze the choices and check each one with the Better Business Bureau and see if they are a legitimate company and if they have any severe complaints against them. This information will also tell you how long the company has been in business and it will give you an address and phone number, where you can talk to an actual person. Once this checking has been done, the choices can be narrowed down even further.

Decipher the final choices and go back to the individual websites and see what they have to offer and see whether they offer sweepstakes, points, prizes or cash. Look for the ones that offer cash or gift cards as payouts, and look for those that offer small minimum payouts. Some require that you make at least $20 before you can cash out, and then it takes a few months to get your money. Look at the payout policies and check on how they notify you of surveys. Try out the final choices for a few months and see if the results are worth going further.
