How to Write a Personal Ad for a Man
If you're looking for a man to date, many people turn to writing a personal ad. Personal ads are primarily placed on Internet sites. A personal ad is a short statement containing details about a person and the type of person she is looking for. A woman looking for a man briefly describes herself, and then states qualities she is looking for in a guy. To obtain the best results from a personal ad, be as honest as possible when writing the ad.

1
Make a list of what you're looking for.The first step in writing a personal ad is determining the main characteristics desired. This includes choosing what age group of men you desire to date and several general types of qualities, such as religious beliefs and drinking and smoking preferences.

2
Develop a list of qualities you want. Come up with at least 10 qualities you are looking for in a man. You can include things such as nice looking, muscular build, height requirements, with or without children, and hobbies. If you are an avid outdoors person, include that you're looking for someone who enjoys fishing, nature walks or trips to the beach.

3
Write down what you want. When actually writing the ad, begin by saying you are looking for a man in a certain age group. State the reason you are looking. If you're looking for friendship, say that. If you are looking for a serious long-term relationship, then say that. Be as honest as possible when writing the ad. Write the qualities desired and any other important details you desire in a man.

4
Tell about yourself. When describing yourself, remain honest. Many ads require photos. However, keep in mind when viewing other people's personal ads, that the photo you see may not be the actual person he claims to be. Write about the qualities you possess. Include the things that are really important to you. Tell about your religious views, work views, and include all of your main hobbies and likes. Don't make things up about yourself just to look better. If there is something you would rather not tell, then don't tell. Just don't lie about it. When writing about yourself, let your true personality come out through humor.

5
Create a headline that grabs attention. After the ad is written, create a headline to finish it off. Try to think of something that is different from all of the others, such as "DWF, 35, Wants to Meet Prince Charming."

6
Include a picture. Have a friend take some photos of you and choose the best one. Include one that has you smiling and looking good. Make sure the photo actually looks like you on a normal day, so that if you do meet someone, he will recognize you from the photo.
