How to Configure Gate or Playden
Before your baby starts crawling, it is wise to baby-proof your house to keep both your baby and your breakables safe. However, if it is difficult to baby-proof a particular area or you have a staircase nearby, a baby gate or play den can be a wonderful help. Gates are simple, removable pieces that run across the width of a doorway, while play dens are entire enclosed areas in which your baby can play. Installing either one should not take longer than a few minutes. Does this Spark an idea?

Adjust the gate to its smallest setting by pushing the two ends of the gate together. On certain models, you will need to hold down a button in order to collapse the gate, while others will just slide when pushed.

Stand the gate between the two sides of the door frame or on the first step of a staircase.

Pull the sides of the gate out until they reach the walls or sides of the staircase. Continue to pull until the gate is tightly wedged between the door frame.

Click, lock or otherwise secure the gate in place, depending on your specific gate. Most gates can easily slide open with the push of a button if an adult needs to pass through.
Play Den

Remove two pieces of the play den from the box and attach them to each other by clicking the appropriate pieces together, according to your specific play den.

Attach a third piece of the play den in the same way and continue until all of the pieces are finished.

Click the last piece together with the first piece to form a complete circle and stand up the play den so that your child can play inside. Most play dens contain one "door" piece that easily opens and closes for easy access to your child.

Tips & Warnings
If the play den area isn't big enough for your child, you can buy extra pieces to create a bigger circle. Alternatively, if the included pieces form a circle that is too big for your play room, remove a few pieces to create a smaller circle.
