An Easy Way to Beat "Through the Fire & Flames"
"Through the Fire and Flames" is a song by the English metal band known as DragonForce. This particular song is credited as one of the band's most successful power-metal jams. Because of the heavy guitar riffs, the song is considered one of the more difficult songs on the video game "Guitar Hero: Smash Hits." However, there are several techniques that gamers can use to be more successful.

1
Learn the "hammer-ons." In "Guitar Hero: Smash Hits," the smaller circular notes to be played do not have to be strummed. For these notes, all you have to do is press the buttons on the fret bar. The entire introduction of this song is in hammer-ons, so knowing how to do them is pivotal. To do them, simply move your fingers over the button and press it when the cursor falls over the note. Practice this on the easiest setting at first to give yourself a feel for how it works.

2
Maintain strumming speed during the body of the song. For this section in the song, you will simply be changing the position of your fingers, but the strumming speed should remain the same. Get a feel for the speed in the first few seconds of the body and maintain that for the duration of this section of the song.

Use star power in the solo. The solo near the end of the song is originally played by two people in DragonForce, so it is nearly impossible to complete without any mistakes. However, if you save all of your star power for the solo, you should be able to get through it. The solo uses a slightly faster beat than the body, so pick up your speed a little, but other than that, let your fingers do the playing.
