Shogun Frame Sliders Installation Instructions
Shogun frame sliders help protect the motorcycle fairing and fiberglass bodywork from damage in the event of a fall or tip-over. The sliders are designed to absorb energy, and typically have aluminum bushings in their centers to hold them firmly in place once installed on the motorcycle. Shogun frame sliders also come with high strength, corrosion resistant hardware. Installing this type of equipment requires knowledge of motorcycle repair and the right shop tools.

1
Unfasten the left and right body panel mounting screws with a Phillips-head screwdriver, remove the panels and set them aside. Separate the turn signal connectors with a flat-head screwdriver. Unfasten and remove the shift linkage assembly using a wrench. Remove the counter-shaft cover.
-
2
Position a standard floor jack beneath the engine. Place a protective plastic or wood board on the jack pad, and raise the jack to provide support for the engine. Loosen and remove the front and rear engine mounting bolts.
-
-
3
Create larger holes, or make cut-outs in the body panels to fit the new rails, if needed. The amount of fabrication required depends on both the motorcycle model and the type of frame slider. Clamp the panel on a work table, making sure to protect the surface from damage. Drill the appropriate holes or make the necessary cuts in the panels according to the kit manufacturer's directions.
-
4
Thread the locking bolts through the counter-shaft sprocket cover and tighten with a wrench. Remount the shift linkage.
-
5
Place the left and right frame slider rods, their bushings and associated hardware in position on the sides of the engine according the manufacturer's directions. Use the longer mounting bolts from the kit to attach the new rods to the engine. Torque the bolts to the amount recommended by the manufacturer. Secure the body panels to the frame sliders using the hardware supplied with the kit. If plastic screw or bolt caps are supplied, install these. Re-connect the turn signal assembly.
