How to Get Legato Networker to See Jukebox Slots

The EMC Legato NetWorker, is a command-line backup utility that can be used on a variety of platforms including Windows, Mac, Linux and Unix. Legato Networker uses various datazones to help the backup process and keep your backup secure. If you want to enable a jukebox slot, then you must run the "jbexercise" command. A jukebox, in NetWorker terms, is the name for attached media servers. Jbexercise, like other controls in Legato NetWorker, must be exercised from the command line. This allows you to specify the slots of a jukebox, test the functionality and grant Legato NetWorker access to see the jukebox slots and display their running capabilities.

Instructions

    • 1

Open the "NetWorker Management Console" from your Start menu. This is the command line tool for accessing your backup server.

    • 2

      Type "jbexercise -m X -c 0 -s" (without quotes).

    • 3

Replace "X" with the model of jukebox slot you wish to initiate.

    • 4

Replace "0" with the port number for your jukebox slot.

    • 5

Press "Enter." This tests the functionality, calling the jukebox slot and then showing the information about slots that are open and running.
