How to Make a Button Hole Machine

Thankfully, the process can be made simpler by turning your sewing machine into a button hole machine. With just a few quick changes and turns of some knobs, your sewing machine will become a button hole machine ready to make button holes of any size.

Things You'll Need

• Sewing machine
• Button hole foot

Instructions

1. Remove the pressure foot from your sewing machine and replace it with a button hole foot.

2. Turn the dials on your sewing machine to the button hole setting.

3. Verify that your thread is set to the closest stitch setting to ensure a strong button hole.

4. Test the button hole machine with a scrap piece of fabric before making your first button hole. The test should produce a tight stitch that completely covers the fabric. This will prevent the fabric from fraying.
