How to Make a Damaged Bathroom Sink Shine
It's the place where you brush your teeth, wash your face, shave and fix your hair: the bathroom sink. If your bathroom sink is stained, chipped, cracked or faded, it's hard to get it to look immaculately clean, no matter how hard you scrub it. Luckily you have more than just the option of ripping out the sink and putting a new one in. Instead if you strategically clean and refinish the sink, all you'll need to do is add a glaze to get it to shine. Does this Spark an idea?
Things You'll Need
- Sink cleanser
- Sponge
- Epoxy
- Putty knife
- 120-grit sandpaper
- Rubber gloves
- Drop cloths
- Hydrofluoric acid
- Waterproof spray primer
- Waterproof spray paint
- Finish glaze of polymer resin blends

Sprinkle a cleanser thickly over the sink. Dampen a sponge and scrub the entire surface area of your sink. Rinse it thoroughly with clean water.

Push an epoxy filler into all the cracks and chips of the sink. Push the epoxy deeper into the cracks with a putty knife. Allow the epoxy to dry thoroughly.

Sand the entire surface area of the sink with 120-grit sandpaper.

Cover all areas of the bathroom that you don't want to get paint and glaze on with a drop cloth or newspaper. Put on a pair of rubber gloves. Spray the inside of the sink with a hydrofluoric acid and allow it to penetrate the enamel of the sink for 20 minutes. This will make the sink more porous to receive the paint and primer but also remove stains and discolorations. Rinse it off with clean water.

Spray the inside of the sink evenly with a waterproof primer. Allow it to dry for at least six hours. Spray the inside of the sink with a waterproof paint. Allow 24 hours for the paint to dry fully.

Spray the surface area of the sink with a glaze made up of a blend of polymer resins. This blend will smooth out the areas you caulked and give the sink a brilliant shine.
