Instructions

    • 1

Place the honey jar lid under hot water for a minute or so. The hot water causes the metal of the jar lid to expand, and it also melts the stuck honey so the lid will come off easier.

    • 2

Tap the edges of the lid on the edge of a counter. You don't need to do it hard, but it does seem to help loosen stuck lids.

    • 3

Using a kitchen towel or rubber gloves, grip the honey jar with one hand and firmly grab the lid with the other hand and twist it counterclockwise. If the lid still does not come off, put it underneath the water for another 30 seconds and tap the edges against the counter again.

Tips & Warnings

  • Once you get the lid open, wipe the rim and the lid clean of any honey before screwing the lid back on to avoid this problem in the future.
