DIY Clogged Lavatory Sink Schematics

A public lavatory is often more prone to clogs and backups, mainly due to the higher volume of people using the restrooms (in comparison to your home bathroom). If the lavatory sinks get backed up often, it can be expensive to use commercial clog-removal solutions every time. Luckily, you can avoid a trip to your local hardware and home goods store and clear the clog yourself using a few household items. Not only do you avoid the high cost, but you avoid the harsh chemicals as well. Does this Spark an idea?

  • Baking soda
  • Vinegar
  • Stove top pot

Instructions

    • 1

      Measure a cup of baking soda. Force the baking soda down the lavatory sink drain. Repeat for each additional clogged lavatory sink.

      Measure a cup of white distilled vinegar. Pour a cup of vinegar down each clogged lavatory sink drain, following the baking soda.

      Close each drain and wait 15 minutes for the solution to get to work.

    • 4

      Boil a large pot of water. Pour an entire pot of boiling water down each lavatory sink drain to remove the clog.

Tips & Warnings

  • The process may need to be repeated once or twice to fully clear tough sink clogs.
