  • Lime juice
  • Table salt

      Place the rusty object into a large bowl or container.

      Pour two parts lime juice to one part table salt into the bowl or container. Use enough lime juice to completely cover the object. Because the lime juice to table salt has a 2:1 ratio, pour in enough table salt to equal half of the amount of lime juice used to cover the object.

      Let the object soak for three hours.

      Remove the object from the bowl or container and wipe clean with a damp cloth or paper towel. All the rust should be gone. The citric acid in the lime juice helps to dissolve the rust. The table salt is an abrasive substance that helps to scrub off the rust.

      Place the object back into the solution of lime juice and salt if rust remains. Then repeat Steps 3 and 4.
