Instructions

    • 1

Position a rack in the center of your oven and preheat the oven to 400° F.

    • 2

Use a kitchen knife to gently split each pita bread into two round pieces.

    • 3

Slice each pita round into eight wedges using a pizza cutter or serrated bread knife.

    • 4

Brush pita wedges with extra virgin olive oil and sprinkle with sea salt to taste. For a lower-fat version, omit the olive oil and use cooking spray instead or brush with non-creamy low fat dressing.

    • 5

Spice up your homemade pita chips if desired. Add cumin, curry, garlic, freshly ground black pepper or flavored oils. Satisfy your sweet tooth with a brown sugar cinnamon topping.

    • 6

Arrange cut pieces in a single layer on a baking sheet and place in preheated oven.

    • 7

Bake for seven to 10 minutes until golden brown. Turn and bake underside for an additional two minutes.

    • 8

Serve warm or at room temperature. Yields 96 chips.

Tips & Warnings

  • Store pita chips in an airtight container or resealable plastic bag for up to five days. If your stored chips lose some of their crunch, pop them in the oven on 250°F for a few minutes.

  • Pita chips brown quickly and cooking times will vary. Avoid burnt chips by checking on them after five to seven minutes in the oven and every two minutes afterward.
