- Curtain rod
- Drywall anchors
- Carpenter's level

Choose a drapery style that best suits the window. To make a window seem larger, extend the draperies past the framework of the window. To camouflage windows, choose a fabric color that blends in with the wall color. Mount draperies close to the ceiling to make the room look taller.

Prepare the wall for mounting. Consider the surface to which the rod is being secured. If the wall is hollow drywall, anchors will be needed to hold the rod securely. Hold the rod up to the wall or window trim to determine the correct position. Place a level on the rod to ensure it is straight. Mark the placement for the mounting hardware using a pencil.

Install the drapery rod. Drill a hole into the marked spot using an electric drill and the correct size bit. Insert an anchor into the hole. Screw the hardware into the anchored hole using a screwdriver. Place the rod onto the hardware to ensure the installation is level.

Fit the drapery panels onto the rod and place the rod back onto the brackets. Ensure both drapery panels are facing the same direction and no tags or seams are showing. Adjust the draperies, ensuring they are evenly spread out over the rod.
